Carlene Knights

Financial Literacy Project Director

Carlene KnightsBorn in Trinidad in the West Indies to Bishop Stanley Knights and Evangelist Wilma Knights, Carlene Knights grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Prior to coming to Mercer University, she was the director of financial aid for the Atlanta campus of National Louis University and worked in financial aid at Columbia University, The City University of New York and Briarcliff College.

Helping to shape young men and women in ministry from the financial point of view is the challenge McAfee School of Theology took on in 2013, and with the cost of seminary education rising across the nation, the creation of a Financial Literacy Office could not have come at a better time.

“My desire is to see every student paying for a seminary education without using student loans,” Knights said. “There are scholarships for all kinds of education, and it’s available if you’re willing to look for it and apply. I am happy to do the looking for students; all they will have to do is apply. Mercer supplies scholarships for every student that is accepted, but we would like every student to be on full scholarship.”
