From The Dean

Dean DeLoachWe at Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology believe that ministry begins with a calling, a stirring of the soul to live a meaningful life impacting the lives of others. Our mission is to prepare ministers who will inspire the Church and the world to imagine, discover, and create God’s future. We are eager to hear of the ways in which you have experienced God’s call in your life.

In order to help you prepare for this wondrous calling, the McAfee School of Theology offers a fully integrated program of study of theological education. Theological preparing takes place in the twin contexts of a strong research university and vibrant partner-churches.

Our hope is to nurture the spiritual life and character of students in a community that values both robust scholarship and authentic piety. We strive to equip students for leadership through personal mentoring, challenging courses, community worship, and the integration of scholarship and experience in the practical tasks of ministry.

The McAfee School of Theology has a great deal to offer: the recognition of a highly respected research university; the vibrancy of living in Atlanta; a faculty of first-rate scholars who are committed Christians; a network of churches and other places of ministry; an innovative, fully-integrated curriculum; and all of this at a highly affordable cost.

I invite you to discern alongside us in our vision to change the world through learning, serving, and leading.

Gratefully,
The Rev. Dr. Greg DeLoach, M.Div., D.Min.
